Overview of the course
The AS and A2 course both continue to develop analytical and practical skills within a scientific framework leading on from GCSE. You will need to have excellent research skills, methodology, biological drawings and essay writing skills. You should also be interested in the study of living things.
What will you study?
In Year 12, you will study the following units:
Molecules and Cells
Energy and the Environment;
Individual investigation Coursework
In Year 13, you will study the following units:
Synoptic paper and practical coursework based on the whole syllabus.
Higher Education Pathways:
BSC Degrees in Biological Sciences
Students wishing to study Chemistry degrees should take Chemistry and either Physics or Maths alongside Biology.
