Who is this Course for?

This course is for students who have a keen interest in media production and like to get ‘hands-on’ with developing media products such as videos, adverts and factual programme techniques

What can you do with Creative Media Production?

This is a practical subject which can lead to university courses in media production related degrees. There is a strong emphasis on practical aspects of media production.

What will you study?

The TV and film industries; pre production techniques, communication skills and presentation techniques; research, video production, working to an industry brief, advertisement production for TV, music video production.

How will you learn?

The subject is taught through a production context so you will often be working in production groups to research, plan, produce and deliver a media product to a named client. Every unit requires independent research and planning and some units are entirely theory based. You will learn how to use video cameras and how to edit amongst many other skills. There will be opportunities for both independent and group work.

How will you be assessed? 

BTEC National courses are all internally assessed so there are no exams. You will be expected to create a folder of evidence for each learning outcome in each unit.
