What is a BTEC National Award?
The BTEC National Award in Sport is a Level 3 course and is the equivalent to 1 A level. It is a 2 year course and can be taken alongside other A levels offered by the academy. It is a practical, work related course and you will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
Assessment and Grading
To achieve the award learners must achieve a minimum of PASS grade in all 6 units. All units are assessed via written assignments, role play, organising an event and presentations; there are no examinations. Units are graded as PASS (E), MERIT (C) or DISTINCTION (A).
What type of learner will do well on this course?
This course is designed for individuals with a genuine interest in sport and good sporting general knowledge. Successful learners will be highly motivated and able to consistently meet deadlines.
Higher education pathways:
BSc Sports Science, BSc Sports rehabilitation, BA Physical Education, BA Sports Development, BA Sports coaching.
PE teacher, sports coach, fitness instructor, physiotherapists, sports development officer.
Practical sporting ability and interest is required and you should have 5 A-C grades at GCSE including PE and English.
