Assessment: 75% Coursework, and 25% Exam
Entry Requirements: GCSEs at C or above which will include English.
Overview of the Course
Children’s Play, Learning and Development covers a wide range of units which are required for working in the early years sector. Work experience will be a part of this course and will provide opportunities that will aid career choices and further study. You will develop excellent communication, skills, professionalism in the work place, the ability to carry out accurate assessments of children’s development and support their planning and an awareness of the day-to-day practice to keep children safe from accidents and hazards.
What you will study?
In Year 12, you will study towards an externally assessed written test lasting 1 hour 45 minutes. You will then complete two units of study which will be evidenced in the form of assignments to produce a portfolio of work.
In Year 13, you will complete a further two units of study; a total of four from the following:
Play in Early Years
Meeting Children’s Physical Development, Physical Care and Health Needs
Health and Safety Practice in Early Years Settings
Collaboration with Parents, Colleagues and Other Professionals in Early Years
