The REAL Trust and 6 other ITT/NQT Coordinators meet regularly to plan and review a programme of CPD throughout the year for NQTs. NQT attendance at Pedagogy meetings and feedback from them has been very positive and the NQT programme is reviewed each year. Pedagogy meetings have been devised to incorporate more active learning with more NQT input. A Welcome Event takes place every September, with LEA representatives and head teachers or Deputy Heads invited to raise the profile and importance of the NQT year. A yearly calendar of CPD is planned for NQT training and the events are held at different venues throughout Rochdale involving specialists in different fields to inspire and motivate NQTs. As well as this internal CPD training for ITT/NQTs is provided and calendared to fit with external training.
Subject Mentor training is essential and 2 sessions are provided to support the importance of the role and administrative procedures. Alongside this a standardised consistent NQT handbook for Subject Mentors and NQTs is issued across the LEA.
